AMERSA Webinar: State-Level Impact: Leveraging SOTA Partnerships to Transform Opioid Treatment
Friday, June 6, 2025 (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
State Opioid Treatment Authorities (SOTAs) are state-appointed officials responsible for overseeing opioid treatment programs (OTPs), implementing federal and state regulations, and shaping policies related to opioid use disorder treatment, particularly methadone. As key decision-makers at the intersection of policy and practice, SOTAs play a pivotal role in expanding access, ensuring quality care, and responding to regulatory changes.
In this AMERSA webinar, SOTAs from Ohio, Rhode Island, and Colorado will share how their states have responded to the newly finalized 42 CFR Part 8 regulations from SAMHSA, which modernize federal methadone treatment rules. Speakers will highlight recent state-level policy innovations, successful collaborations, and offer recommendations for how providers, advocates, and researchers can effectively partner with SOTAs to advance methadone access and equity.
